To Whom It May Concern:
I will be seeking legal representation regarding my experience at this
library as a homosexual white male using the public library 'side.' I
feel that not only is it a disgrace that this would happen to me. I
also feel compelled to do so because with the King
name representing it- I thought it would be a safe zone. I was not
only wrongfully arrested after being lied to by SJSU PD, but then after
returning once released from jail (1 week later) was then harassed as I was exiting and followed by an officer. I hope to see the King
name removed from this building and petitioned to be placed on a new
san jose public library in and around the same vicinity. I will also be
petitioning for every tax dollar this library has received to be
returned by SJSU for the new location. I'm originally from Birmingham,
Alabama- and am proud to be from 'Bombingham.' The hatred that exists
in San Jose will knock you off your feet. I've lived in West Hollywood
for the last few years- as such I even moderated my behavior. The
abuse of authority by those in authoritative positions in the community
here and SJSU PD has directly caused me harm- I've been diagnosed with
PTSD and am afraid to go back to the MLK Library. As someone who was
jsut legally allowed to be married- I hope that you guys will follow up
from a 'hate' stand point. I understand there may be barriers with the
Center and my homosexuality- but regardless hate is hate. Your support
in my crusade will be in my thoughts and motivation regardless. Thank
you for the Legacy.
Best,
Joshua Ray
